Both are weekly injections that work on gut hormone signals for appetite and blood sugar. Your clinician helps you choose, and may suggest neither.

Brand names are for comparison only: Everdawn’s options are compounded, and a licensed clinician prescribes a compounded GLP-1 only when they document a medical reason an FDA-approved product isn’t right for you. FDA-approved oral semaglutide exists (Wegovy tablets). There is no FDA-approved oral tirzepatide, and whether compounded oral forms are absorbed and work as well as injections has not been shown.

Weight loss telehealth

More than a prescription.

Weight medicines work best with a lifestyle program, NIDDK says, so the plan looks past the scale.

Is it for you?

Who GLP-1 medicine may suit.

May suit you if

  • You’re an adult with a BMI of 30 or more
  • Or a BMI of 27 or more with a weight-related condition, such as high blood pressure or type 2 diabetes
  • You’re ready to change eating and activity habits alongside it

Not for you if

  • You or a family member have had medullary thyroid cancer, or you have MEN 2
  • You are pregnant, or planning a pregnancy

Needs a closer look

  • Past pancreatitis or gallbladder problems
  • Type 1 diabetes, insulin or a sulfonylurea
  • Surgery or a procedure coming up
  • Birth control pills, if you’re considering tirzepatide

If it isn’t working. NIDDK says that if you don’t lose at least 5% of your starting weight after 12 weeks on the full dose, your health care professional will probably advise stopping or changing the plan.

Question 1 of 4

Where do you live?

Care depends on your state. Availability is confirmed before you enroll.

Questions.

Semaglutide or tirzepatide: which is right for me?

Neither is right for everyone. Semaglutide acts on the GLP-1 receptor; tirzepatide acts on two receptors, GIP and GLP-1. A licensed clinician weighs your health history, medicines, side effects, goals and price, and can explain FDA-approved options too.

Who is GLP-1 medicine for?

NIDDK says weight management medicines may be prescribed for adults with a BMI of 30 or more, or 27 or more with a weight-related problem such as high blood pressure or type 2 diabetes. They are used together with eating, activity and other habit changes, not in place of them.

Can I take a GLP-1 without injections?

Possibly. Everdawn offers compounded oral semaglutide (from $189 a month) and Liposomal tirzepatide LPT® chewable tablets (from $209 a month). There is no FDA-approved oral tirzepatide, and whether compounded oral forms are absorbed and work as well as injections has not been shown.

Does insurance pay for it?

Everdawn’s programs are cash pay, and the full price is shown before you buy. HSA or FSA funds may be eligible; check with your plan administrator or a tax advisor.

What if it doesn’t work for me?

NIDDK says that if you don’t lose at least 5% of your starting weight after 12 weeks on the full dose, your health care professional will probably advise stopping, changing the plan or trying a different medicine.

Do I need an in-person visit?

No. The assessment, clinician review and check-ins happen online, and if a medicine is prescribed it ships to your door. If labs would change the plan, your clinician can order them at a nearby lab.
